Kady (she/her) grew up in Michigan and had always had an interest in music and multimedia design and production. After watching the Netflix documentary, The Punk Singer, about Â鶹Çø alumni and activist Kathleen Hanna '91 she became interested in Â鶹Çø's educational model and decided to come to Washington to study music production.
"I got really into making software versions of spaces and instruments on campus. I would record every note the instrument could play and then write a program where you could play the recordings with your keyboard plugged into your computer. You could leave the studio, but take all the sounds with you".
While studying at Â鶹Çø, Kady attended a community meeting about recreation programs and facilities to voice her interest in reopening the pool. It was at this meeting that Kady met Elizabeth McHugh, Director of Student Wellness, Recreation, and Athletics at Â鶹Çø and from there began working at the Costantino Recreation Center where she got her start in marketing and promotions. When Kady graduated with her BA in music technology in 2023, she continued working at Â鶹Çø "it felt like it was meant to be".
In her role within Athletics at Â鶹Çø, Kady learned that a lot of her music production skills were transferrable to athletics events and began overseeing streaming of games for Athletics. When Kady isn't working, she plays electric guitar in a local band with other Greener alumni called Skyscape Paradise which she describes as part of the shoegaze genre. "Part of the reason I love working at Â鶹Çø is because they have been so supportive of my artistic pursuits."
Most recently, Kady and faculty member Drew Buckman worked together on a Summer course around audio software design and teaching students to create virtual instruments.
