I teach critical psychology with a focus on decolonial, feminist, and community-based approaches. I believe in education for liberation and the power of learning within the community. I am interested in resisting hierarchies between faculty and students and those considered "expert" by valuing the knowledge each member of the learning community brings to our space. This orientation to learning also requires critical questioning of what is considered psychology and who has the power to define what is normal/abnormal. Seminars are student-led, collaborative, and co-created, and I encourage students to develop their own learning goals and intellectual curiosities in relationship to the program material. I see my classes as opportunities to practice the theories and perspectives we are encountering in the class, centering on the importance of relationship-building and trust in processes of learning and transformation.

Education

Ph.D., Psychology, City University of New York Graduate Center, 2020; M.Phil., Critical Social Psychology, City University of New York Graduate Center, 2018; B.A., Psychology & Anthropology, Bates College, 2012.

Teaching Style

My teaching style prioritizes the development of critical thinking and collaborative skills as the center of learning and transformation. I practice strength-based and compassion-centered approaches to feedback and consider each student an expert in their own lived experience and educational journeys. I am interested in the practice of intentional accompaniment as an educator; to walk together in collective inquiry and community-building.
